In addition, you will really like the 13.3” 9 Series laptop and you will like the design, the performance, and the weight, but you really will not like price. Somehow 1600$ seemed a lot and it still does. Samsung saw that issue coming and decided to make an 11.6 inch version.

On the other hand, the future member of the 9 Series will also have good features but at a lower price. The speed of Samsung 11.6 inch Series 9 will be in charge of a 1.33 GHz Intel Core i3-380UM processor. There will be 2GB of RAM, 64GB of SSD storage, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0, HDMI output, microSD card slot, WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth 3.0, microphone and audio in jacks.

Samsung 11.6 inch Series 9 display will have 1366×768 resolution and Samsung 11.6 inch Series 9 will welcome you with the Windows 7 Home Premium Logo. Battery life will be dealt with by using a 5680mAh unit.

In short, maybe the most important feature of them all is about price. Dell initially teased the existence of its upscale 13-inch Adamo laptop at CES 2009, and formally announced details and ordering availability two months later. We previously had a chance to get our hands on a preproduction version of the system, and have now been able to test the finished product.

Adamo is a departure for Dell, a company built on selling mass quantities of mainstream laptops that is still one of the most affordable and configurable systems available and an initial stop for many first time computer buyers. Instead, Adamo laptop is a high-end, ultrathin 13-inch model that starts at $1,999 and partly shares a general design sensibility with the MacBook Air and the HP Voodoo Envy 133. Something that you should know, Dell claims its Adamo line of laptops is the thinnest in the world with a uniform thickness of 0.65 inch

On the other hand, The Adamo laptops are built from aluminum with a unibody design and will come in two colors such as onyx and pearl or black and white. Adamo laptop features a 13.4 inch LED backlit glossy widescreen 16:9 display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution housed behind a sheet of edge to edge glass. Then, Adamo laptops will come with Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 and 64 bit pre installed.

On the inside, Adamo sports at Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz processor, a 128GB SSD and comes by 2GB of RAM all weighing four pounds. Just like Apple’s skinny model, Adamo doesn’t come with a built-in optical drive but a separate external (fashionably color matched DVD+/-R or Blu-ray) drive will be available and also 250 or 500 GB external HDDs.

As for connectivity, Adamo features two USB ports, one USB or eSATA port which is used for connecting the external optical drive or HDD, an Ethernet jack and a DisplayPort video output. An interesting addition is a SIM card slot on the right side of the laptop, next to the headphone jack which can be used for connecting to the Internet over high-speed wireless networks. Meanwhile, Adamo laptop has a WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 are on board as well.

In addition, opting for a subtle look on and around the keyboard tray, the Adamo has only a handful of small LED lights for the power button, the touch sensitive media controls, and the Caps Lock button. The backlit keyboard itself is a big change from the typical Dell laptop keyboard which has always had tall like tapered keys.

The most important, typing felt very comfortable but the individual keys were a bit annoying and the space bar required a solid hit to register which did not fit our light typing style. Then, the metal touch pad worked well and sometimes using nontraditional surfaces on a touch pad can add uncomfortable friction and finger drag but that was not the case here.

The HP Envy 13 seems like a new generation of PC laptop for HP or even the industry. Intentional or not HP Envy 13 bears more in resemblance with Apple’s lineup than its own predecessors, it’s part of the very first wave of computers with Windows 7 pre installed, HP Envy 13 places a large emphasis on battery life but still manages great performance, and it’s a luxury PC that actually provides some pretty good excuses for its inflated price tag. We have spent a nice solid week with the laptop, so find out if the HP Envy 13 can live up to its promise after the break.

Meanwhile, the entire of HP Envy 13 runs very cool to the touch especially in the palm rest which is textured with an odd pattern of dug out squares. The curved metal edge that runs around the laptop comes to a rather sharp edge, similar to that of a MacBook Pro, and is slightly uncomfortable if our wrists are laid heavily across it. Ports wise is very little to keep track of, with a power plug and SD card slot on the left. Then, the Envy 13 actually comes with its user manual on a 2GB SD card, a nice touch, and two USB ports, HDMI and hybrid audio plug for headphones and a microphone on the right side.

On the other hand, The HP Envy 13 comes with a 4 cell battery which ran for about three and a half hours during my everyday usage such as running Firefox, Pidgin, TweetDeck and streaming music. Then, you can order an extra 6 cell battery slice that magnetically clips to the bottom of the notebook, appearing as if it is part of the build. HP Envy 13 says that will add about another 10 hours of runtime.

In addition, The HP Envy 13 display is roughly twice as bright as other notebook displays of the same size which is about 410 nit brightness and this helps compensate for the glossy surface covering the screen. HP Envy 13 also allows you to clearly see the screen even under direct sunlight. This LED backlit display offers 82 percent color gamut.

The built in stereo speakers carry the branding which suggests a premium listening experience. The results were not as impressive as the beats brand implies. The speakers produce clear sound with plenty of volume but bass is lacking and the overall sound quality is rather tinny; akin to listening to music from inside an aluminum can. Headphones are the best option to enjoy music and movies from the notebook. Another alternative is using the HDMI out to pass digital audio to a home stereo.

Frankly, given the cost of the notebook and the amount of unused space around the edges, HP Envy 13 could at least add one more USB port as well as FireWire or eSATA.
